Typically, I write a lot about writing. But sometimes, I get out of a groove. There are weeks at a time where I sort of slack off of writing for awhile. That doesn't mean I don't write at all, but it's often not what I would consider things worth posting. So how do I find myself getting back in a groove?
Sometimes, I'll just sit there and type forever. Journaling works for me in that regard sometimes. Other times, I'll whip out a quick poem or two to get the creative juices flowing, but more often that not those are jumbled messed. In fact, that's how I have written hundreds of poems, by writing a lot of bad ones, too.
Other times I will simply force something on a topic I know a lot about. It may only be 150 or 200 words. Still, putting words together at all can be a challenge sometimes when you're really not feeling the writing thing.
But really, what I wanted to get to today is getting back into a groove in many different aspects of life. Some things you just sort of power through. The day-to-day chores and making meals and whatnot just sort of have to be done. So then, you sit down to work and your energy's gone. You have to find your second wind.
Caffeine isn't always the answer to get back in a groove. Not for me anymore, at least. I've found B Vitamins work better, especially B12. Really, any drink that has those in it are more helpful than caffeine most of the time, at least for me. I still have some caffeine here and there but I've found my focus is better on B vitamins than caffeine. I get scattered on caffeine. I'm already scattered enough!
I'm finding that by taking more breaks I'm able to be more productive in less time. So that's good. Now I just have to find a consistent rhythm. It doesn't have to be perfect. Nothing in life ever is. But I'm always working a little bit every day, even when I say I'm going to take the day off. I simply can't not do something. I'll take days off when I feel like I can. Often, I have too many goals to meet to really stop completely. But I've been taking my time with some things, and things are still coming together. So, I have that to keep me going.
I know that sometimes I'm not going to write the most exciting article in the world. But sometimes I just want to write something. Then, I figure, it may be worth sharing. Sometimes, I'm really trying to just get back into a groove where I can post like a maniac and write thousands of words a day. The drive is often there, just not the words, and try as you might, forcing them isn't always the best answer.
Hopefully, by writing and posting something at least, I'll get back into a groove soon enough. After all, I live to deliver quality stuff to you, my lovely readers.
